Ground Source Heat Pumps
Ground Source Heat Pumps use solar energy naturally stored in soil, bedrock and
groundwater as a heat source. They do require electricity to operate, but efficently
produce up to five times as much heat energy for every unit of electricity they use.
Where can they be used?
There are a number of types of ground
source heat pumps available to suit the
heating equipment of any building,
whether it's a new building or existing.
They can also be installed almost anywhere,
providing there is sufficent space to lay
ground loops or drill a bore hole.
What are the key benfits?
- Extermely energy efficent
- Environment friendly
- Operates at 225% efficently when heating domestic hot water (compared to 100% for electric immersion heaters and 85% for gas boilers)
- Designed to achieve 400% efficency with radiators and underfloor heating systems
